Tatneft, Kazmunaigas say to develop $800 mln butadiene project

MOSCOW, Aug 31 (PRIME) – The project of Tatneft and state oil and gas company of Kazakhstan Kazmunaigas, involving production of butadiene and its derivatives in Kazakhstan, is estimated at more than U.S.$800 million, Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Nurlan Nogayev said on Tuesday.

Tatneft plans to produce butadiene rubber in the Atyrau Region of Kazakhstan by 2025, the company said in April. The planned production capacity is 186,000 tonnes of butadiene rubber and 170,000 tonnes of isobutane per year. The products will be then supplied to a tire plant of the joint venture of Tatneft and Kazakhstan’s Allure group KamaTyresKZ in the Karaganda Region, as well as for exports to Europe, Russia, China, Turkey and other countries.

The KamaTyresKZ facility is to be launched in 2022. The production capacity will be 3 million passenger car and 500,000 all-metal cord tires. Output will be exported to Central Asia, Turkey and China, Nogayev said.
